Presidential Elections 2023 – Statement by the Chief Returning Officer, Dr Costas Constantinou, on the voter turnout until 10:00 a.m.

The voting for the election of the President of the Republic of Cyprus is until now running smoothly and in an absolutely orderly and calm manner.

At 9:00 a.m. Cyprus time, ballot boxes were opened in the United Arab Emirates, while just now, ballot boxes at the polling stations in the United Kingdom, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Luxembourg, were opened as well.

The operating hours of the polling station in the United Arab Emirates are from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time, with a one-hour break from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m..

The operating hours of the polling stations in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Luxembourg are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, with a one-hour break from 1:00 p.m. until 02:00 p.m.

The operating hours of the polling stations in the UK are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. local time, with a half-hour break from 12:00 n. to 12:30 p.m.

Until 10.00 a.m the island-wide voter turnout has reached 11,7%. In comparison to the corresponding time in the 2018 Presidential Elections, this percentage has increased by 1,2%.
